More angle iron bracing was added from the lift bar to the tubbing.

The cutting edge installed. The cutting edge was worn in the middle. I nipped off some of the cutting edge so that I would have a straight cutting blade.

In this picture two automotive valves were used to hold the latch closed. Since the picture was take the springs have been replaced with a spring from a chair. The chair spring is longer and stronger.

A strong back was welded across the top of the blade and when I get the cutting edge located another strong back will be added just above the cutting edge. The blade can be off set about 2 ft. this will but the end of the blade out side of the tire.

At this point the bottom of the notch is pretty rough. I use a die grinder and a rotatory file to clean the bottom of the notch up.

The locking latch notch was laid out and the bottom of the notch was drilled. Than the notch was band sawed into the drilled hole. I chain drilled across the bottom of the notch and knocked out the plug with the hammer.

Three inch pieces of channel are welded to the lift arm and to the flanges to add strength between the lift arm and the tube. A parking jack was made out of a couple pieces of square tubbing that telescope inside one another. The male tube has a couple of holes drilled in it. One to hold the jack up when the blade is mounted on the tractor and one that will hold the blade up when disconnected.

The blade is made from an old air tank and stump grinder. It weights 783#. Hydraulics will swivel the blade.

Maiden voyage

This is the maiden voyage for the blade. Due to the ice under the snow the tractor has all it wants to pull.

The frozen snow is too hard.

As you can see the ice has the left side of the tractor tilted up so the blade is not level and is digging in on the right corner.

Last year I purchased two air tanks one to make a BBQ from and this one. I paid $50 for the both of them. The two ends will make a fine BBQ also or one end will be a forge. I have not decided for sure.

This is the lift arm being welded together. The tube is 3X3X1/4 inch and the end plates are 1/2 thick.

Stump grinder

This old stump grinder will supply the rest of the materal for the blade. I want the two tubes that the wheel is welded to. The grinder was hight was adjusted by the two pipe that slide inside one another. The wheel spindle is welded to the inside pipe.

I have got to work around the two flanges as they are not welded to the pipe at 90* angles. The pipe will be set at 90*angle to the lift bar and the flanges will be welded to the lift bar where ever the flanges contact the lift bar.
